Billions of dollars a year are spent by individuals, organizations and the healthcare system to treat people who get infectious diseases caused by microbes including bacteria, viruses and fungi. With the advent of adaptive and ever more dangerous microorganisms called “super bugs”, the danger of acquiring life-threatening infections is real and growing. This danger affects everyone anytime they are in a space where people gather, and any microbe contaminating that space is a possible source of infection. With American’s spending 20 or more hours a day indoors, much of it in spaces that are not cleaned and sanitized/disinfected properly, the threat of infection is constant, growing and dangerous, particularly to our vulnerable populations of the very young, elderly and infirm.

Hospital-acquired infection (HAI) — also known as a nosocomial infection — is an infection that is contracted from the environment or staff of a healthcare facility. It can be spread in the hospital environment, nursing home environment, rehabilitation facility, clinic or other clinical settings. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated roughly 1.7 million hospital-associated infections from all types of microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi combined, cause or contribute to 99,000 deaths each year.

With our hypochlorous solutions that are known to be environmentally responsible and designed to improve and maintain crop yields, we are striving to produce a healthier overall harvest. Through USDA grants and multiple studies conducted by universities around the world, the HOCl addresses crop-devastating pathogens in post-harvest applications that include sanitizing at point of harvest, point of packing and points of sale.

Hypochlorous acid has been used in agriculture and farming for decades. HOCl is a biodegradable natural solution that is non-flammable and chemical free. Though HOCl is commonly used for crop control, its efficiency has drastically improved post-harvest rot, the reduction of bacterial pesticide residue on fresh fruits and vegetables. HOCl also has the strength and capability to decontaminate meat and poultry, completely transforming the industry of agriculture. It provides a myriad of solutions to some of our most troublesome and taxing dilemmas in the agriculture world. Being that the solution is pH neutral, its application now allows for round-the-clock usage and ability to be used during pre- and post-harvest. It also allows for a larger crop yield in the industry as crop spoilage is now vastly reduced. By disinfecting surfaces, the pathogens that affect plants’ health and vitality makes the spread of the diseases and pathogens far less likely.

Early results in the Grassy Creek field have shown that the Nano-Catholyte™ treatment has improved recovery from less than a barrel per day (in a 7-well injection pattern) to over three barrels per day, which represents over a 300% increase in production. That number is continually changing over time due to the low gravity of the oil,12-15 API, which is difficult to measure. Production may continue to rise once consistent daily production can be maintained in the single well Maverick has treated. In the producing well in S.E. Oklahoma, using a remedial treatment of 1,000 gallons of Nano-Catholyte™, the production was increased from less than a barrel per day to over three barrels of oil per day which lasted over a week before falling off. This indicates that a larger treatment would increase production. A second larger treatment of almost 3,000 gallons is being performed now with an expectation of sustaining the higher production rate longer.

The oil and gas industry remains resilient and very active in the USA, especially in the Permian Basin of West Texas. While the major activity for drilling and stimulation remains strong and is recovering from the pandemic slowdown, the daily production of 5 million barrels of oil per day in the Permian Basin will increase in January 2022 to almost 8.4 million barrels a day. Using current development and technology, this production rate is still less than 30% efficient down to the point of uneconomic production levels (depletion). The estimated remaining oil to be recovered in the Permian is estimated at 74 billion barrels of using existing technology. The industry uses a variety of techniques such as hydraulic fracturing and chemistries for well stimulation. Thousands of wells in the USA are considered stripper wells, which are wells producing less than ten barrels of oil per day (<10 BOPD). Many have used water floods and enhanced oil recovery projects, which use costly methods that incorporate the production of clean (reclaimed) waste water, steam, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, alkaline, surfactant and polymer combinations.The recent development of a patent-pending, environmentally friendly, disruptive technology provides a breakthrough which combines two cost-effective and efficient technologies, namely electrochemically activated (ECA) saltwater and nano gas (nitrogen, oxygen, etc.) spheres to produce two different nanosphere infused dispersions. The Anolyte version is capable of mitigating destructive biofilms, bacterial corrosion and H2S gas as well as mineral scaling issues. It also provides more efficient oil and gas recovery via enhanced surface activity, alkaline pH and a nanoscale mechanical advantage for mobilizing hydrocarbons through porous reservoir rock or tubulars to significantly improve recovery (i.e. 40-plus percent or higher).
